The EU-LAC Foundation, the German Federal Foreign Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain are pleased to announce the launch of this open call for participation in the Gender Equality Forum on 11-12 May 2023 in Berlin, Germany, in a hybrid format.

On 27 October 2022, during the CELAC-EU Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Buenos Aires, the authorities of the countries of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the Member States of the European Union (EU) expressed their commitment to organise a Summit of Heads of State and Government of both regions to be held in July 2023. Regarding this Summit, the EU-LAC Foundation, whose mandate is to connect the intergovernmental process with the civil societies of both regions, plans to contribute with substantial inputs to this dialogue at the highest bi-regional level.

In this context, we propose to organise the Gender Equality Forum, with the aim of facilitating an exchange and joint work between Latin American, Caribbean and European representatives of civil society networks and organisations, academic experts and international organisations specialised in the subject. The objective is to generate inputs for the adoption of common lines of programmes and public policies, as well as initiatives of civil society actors that help to articulate and strengthen the links between the societies of both regions in terms of gender equality.

For additional information, attached you will find an open call for participation and a tentative programme.

Participation in the Forum is free-of-charge and interested parties are kindly requested to submit their expressions of interest by 7 March 2023 (23:59 CET) via this link.

  • A group of around 35 people will be able to participate in person at the Forum in Berlin (the criteria for selection are indicated in the concept note).
  • A group of up to 75 people can attend virtually.

In addition, networks, organisations and experts in the field will be able to submit their input to the dialogue through an online expert survey.
