Putting gender on the tech agenda

How can the Women, Peace and Security lens that is typically applied to conflict prevention and peacemaking be used to shape a more just and secure digital landscape?

Gender inequality in tech is most often framed as an issue of workforce parity but the digital revolution has created profound gender gaps in many dimensions across society.

  • What are the national security implications of technological applications that don’t take the concerns of gender into account?
  • What can the landmark framework on women’s participation in conflict prevention and peacebuilding laid out by UN Security Council Resolution 1325 teach us about the role of gender equality and women’s rights in creating a tech ecosystem that works for everyone?
  • How are women building and contributing to safer tech platforms right now? How can we ensure that more women are at the table so that they can help shape the technological advances of tomorrow?

Foreign Policy, in partnership with Our Secure Future, will bring together leading voices at the intersection of tech, gender and digital governance to answer some of these questions and explore how the Women, Peace and Security agenda can help shape our digital future.
