Gender Equality in the Digital Age – Meeting of the EQUALS Global Partnership

Viktoria Kaffanke • 17 September 2020

"By founding the #eSkills4Girls-initiative, the G20 states have committed to promote digital skills among women and girls and gender equality in the digital age. Within the framework of the EQUALS Partnership and on behalf of the BMZ Education Department, the GIZ Sector Programme Education continues the German commitment since 2017. The EQUALS partnership meeting on September 14 included a review of the past year, the celebration of successes of the partnership and the definition of new activities to overcome the gender digital divide.

Who or what is the EQUALS partnership?
The EQUALS network unites organizations that foster gender equality in the digital world. Providing financial resources, teaching digital skills or strengthening female role models - every activity counts in the fight against the gender digital divide. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and its four founding members GSMA, International Trade Centre, UN University and UN Women established EQUALS in late 2016. Other partner organizations apart from BMZ and GIZ are UNESCO, EY, OECD, Plan International, World Bank and the World Wide Web Foundation.  "
